New funding from IDUB (UW)

Prof. Grzegorz Litwinienko and mjr dr Jacek Grębowski received 100,000 PLN in funding for a joint research project entitled: “Nanomedicine in the Service of Safety: Dual-Use Metallofullerenols as Radioprotectors in Radiotherapy and Counteracting Radiological Threats”, selected under the competition “Projects by joint research teams from UW and WIM-PIB (under Action IV.3.1) – 2nd edition”. The project aims to characterize the radioprotective properties of metallofullerenols for nanomedical and defense applications by examining molecular interactions with water radiolysis products and biological protection under oxidative stress. It will identify mechanisms of action, assess effectiveness in biological models, and evaluate dual-use applications for radiotherapy patients as well as military and civilian radiological protection.
