After a one-year stay in Spain, she started her PhD studies at the University of Warsaw in the Laboratory of Stereocontrolled Organic Synthesis (PSSO), under the supervision of Prof. Rafał Sicinski. Continuing her collaboration with Prof. Mouriño, after passing the required examinations at the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2008, she was awarded the Diploma of Doctoral Studies (Diploma de Estudios Avanzados: DEA, equivalent to Master of Research). Later, in 2012, Katarzyna defended his PhD thesis entitled: “Synthesis of 6-substituted vitamin D3 analogues” under the supervision of Prof. Rafał Sicinski and Prof. Antonio Mouriño. Since 2007, she has completed a total of nine research internships (over 30 months in total) at the Department of Biochemistry of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA), in the laboratory of Prof. Hector F.
